We built our service around a simple idea: healthcare should work around you.
Please reach us at uxbridgeus@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
No referral needed at all. You can self-refer and book with us directly. We know getting a referral can delay things by weeks, so we welcome anyone who feels they need an ultrasound. (If your doctor or physio advised you to get one, you can come straight to us.) We will provide you with a report, which you can share with your GP or specialist.
No. For self-referrals, health insurers do not cover the cost of the scan.
No, ultrasound scans are painless.
For patients scheduled for a transvaginal ultrasound scan, this procedure usually does not hurt, but it may feel uncomfortable for some people.
What to expect:
- A thin ultrasound probe is gently inserted into the vagina.
- You may feel pressure or mild discomfort, especially if you have pelvic pain, vaginal dryness, or anxiety.
- It should not be painful—if it is, you should tell the sonographer immediately so they can stop or adjust.
Helpful points:
- The probe is covered and lubricated.
- You can ask the sonographer to go slowly.
- Breathing calmly and relaxing your pelvic muscles can help reduce discomfort.
No. There is no radiation involved.
You are welcome to bring a friend or family member for support if you feel anxious. They can stay with you before and during the scan, but must complete a safety screening first. Please note that unsupervised children or minors are not permitted.
Your scan will be carried out by one of our highly experienced sonographers or a consultant radiologist. We match you with the most appropriate clinician for your needs — for example, a female sonographer is available for pelvic and pregnancy scans, and a male radiologist performs testicular scans for your comfort
Yes. Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive procedure that uses sound waves rather than radiation. We follow strict, hospital-level safety standards, and all your information is kept fully confidential. Your results are shared only with you, or with your GP or specialist if you choose.
